In order to limit shipping costs and limit the risk of breakage to both
glass and frame (we do not encourage perspex glazing for fine art),
most of the artwork displayed on our site is shipped UNFRAMED.
This means that once you receive the artwork you will need to organise
the framing. The frame is as important as the artwork itself and we
strongly advise that you have the piece framed professionally in order
to achieve the best possible result. We do offer a framing suggestion
with some pieces and hope to keep expanding this function to provide
a visual reference that you can print off and discuss with your framer.
We do not
currently offer a framing service, however some of the work that we
display on our site is pre-framed by the artist.
For pre-framed
Artwork, the frame and the artwork will be displayed on the site and
both frame and artwork are sold as displayed, as one item.
In the
case of Oils and Acrylics the works are normally shipped in a condition
we term ’rough framed’. This is where the canvas is stretched and stapled
over the artists’ original frame but without any further adornment.
Many collectors and museums are happy to hang oils and acrylics in this
condition, however should you wish to put the painting into an outer
frame we strongly advise that you organise this through a professional
framer. NEVER remove an oil or acrylic painting from its original
frame unless you are experienced and you know what you are doing.
Some countries
have restrictions on the entry of organic matter, which includes wood
and wood derivative products. If you live in one of these countries
please ensure that you only buy unframed artwork.
This is
particularly true of Australia and New Zealand and any artwork delivered
to either of these destinations will need to be completely removed from
the frame and shipped completely free of any wood based components.
Although
many modern frames are made from MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard), they
may still be subject to restrictions. Artisat.Com can not accept any
responsibility for delivery delays due to individual countries import
policies and if you are in doubt you should check with your local Customs
and Excise Office for any restrictions.
In summary
this means that the work displayed on our site will ship to you in one
of three ways.
- Pre-framed
- Rough
Framed
- Unframed
The framing
status is clearly shown on the displayed description of the art piece.
