ARTISAT CUSTOMER TIPS
The
Arisat Golden Rule : ‘Only buy art because you like it’!
What you choose to buy really does depend on personal preferences,
some of which will include;
Your
Taste
There is no right or wrong when it comes to taste. Preference for the
things you like is a personal issue and you should never allow yourself
to be dictated to or overly influenced by others. Art that you find
visually stimulating may be considered awful by others and vice-versa.
Art, like beauty, is ‘in the eye of the beholder’!
Our policy
for sourcing and displaying art is non-discriminatory in terms of style,
medium, subject matter and genre. We do however strive to meet a certain
quality standard and the artists who offer their work for sale through
us are professional artists who have some degree of recognition either
locally, regionally or internationally.
In order
for you to get the maximum benefit from our site we have set a goal
to exhibit the widest spectrum of work that will appeal to all tastes
and offer something for everyone.
If you
know your preferences you can access the ‘Art
Search’ function and search by Genre, Medium, Subject Matter or
Artist. Alternatively browse the gallery at your leisure.
Your
Budget
Your budget is a very real factor in the choice of art you buy. We discourage
our customers from buying art for a commercial gain and always revert
to our golden rule ‘only buy art because you like it’!
We understand
that our customers’ budgetary constraints will be diverse and we have
therefore developed our site to provide a broad range of prices within
our art categories.
Think carefully
about how much you are prepared to spend on a piece. Give yourself a
‘spending cap’ based on what you can afford and search for a piece up
to this value.
We encourage
many of our artists to produce limited edition prints and etchings in
addition to their original works. We do this not only because etchings
and prints are attractive in themselves but also to provide a more economic
option for our customers who wish to buy a piece from an artist they
like.
In order
to help you search for art that fits within your budget we have developed
a service where you are able to search for work within prescribed price
ranges. You will find this service in the ‘Art
Search’ function.
The
Space Available
You will need to exercise common sense when choosing your art. If you
only have limited wall space to hang the work on you should avoid buying
large sized at work. Similarly if your house or office has large walls
you should avoid hanging a small piece on it. The proportional relationship
between the picture, its frame and the wall on which it hangs are very
important considerations in achieving the best spatial composition for
displaying your art.
In order
to assist you in selecting an appropriately sized piece we specify both
the image size and paper size for all work displayed on our site. You
will have to look carefully at the detailed description to see if the
piece you are buying is framed or unframed. Our ‘Information
on Framing’ section will explain our policy regarding whether work
ships framed or un-framed.
At this
point in time we are not able to offer any advisory services related
to interior design or location of art. If you are at all concerned about
how to position and display your art you may want to consider referring
to one of the numerous interior decoration books that are now commonly
available.
The
intended location of a picture
You are not advised to buy art purely on the grounds of filling a space
and we refer you to our golden rule, ‘only buy art because you like
it’!
The intended
location is however a real consideration. Bright well-lit rooms are
good to draw out the colours and contrasts in a painting however you
should avoid displaying art in areas that are exposed to direct sunlight.
This is particularly relevant to most water based mediums such as Watercolor,
Gouache and Ink Wash where exposure to sunlight often leads to colour
deterioration and fading. Oils and acrylics are more resilient however
the effects of direct sunlight over prolonged periods can cause cracking
and such locations should be avoided.
